Hartmut Schmidt
Hartmut Schmidt is a Grand Prix rider and trainer, recipient of the Gold Medal from the German National Federation and was for many years assistant coach to Willi Schultheis, the former (now deceased) German National Coach. Hartmut worked with the German Olympic Committee for several years and trained a number of horses for competition in the Olympics and at World Championship events. Hartmut runs his own stable near Dusseldorf Germany.
Johan Zagers
Johan Zagers is an internationally renowned dressage trainer and rider. In 1999, together with Matthias Vatter he trained the Oldenburg gelding Renoir Unicef which was awarded the gold team medal in the European Championships. Johan has achieved Grand Prix success in Zwoll, Warsaw, Lipica and Brno, along with the Belgian Championship on two occassions.
Jean Bemelmans
Jean Bemelmans is a well known trainer, originally from Belgium, he now lives in Germany. Jean is trainer of the Spanish Dressage Team and led them to a silver medal in the Athens Olympics in 2004. Anne Smith, founder of Sunbury Lodge, also trained under Jean for two years in Europe.
Jean visited Sunbury Lodge in 2000, after the Sydney Olympics, giving Anne a week of private training.
