The Breeding Program

In support of a goal to obtain international standards of dressage, Sunbury Lodge has regularly hosted clinics with some of the world's best known Grand Prix dressage trainers, and enable students of dressage to reach the next level in their performances. Anne Smith from Sunbury Lodge and her students have achieved success on the international dressage stage for many years.

Over the years, the breeding program at Sunbury Lodge has produced quality performance horses for Australia's dressage and competition industry. Many of Sunbury Lodge's horses have achieved success on the international stage at all levels of competition.

History of the Program

Anne dabbled in breeding at Greenvale, where she and husband Ross lived for around 25 years, before moving to Kyneton. Anne's first foray into breeding, whilst she was still at Greenvale, produced two Royal Show winning Galloways - Impress and Morocco.

The very first foals to be produced in the program were crossbreds; Percheron and Clydesdale cross mares were crossed with thoroughbred sires. Further down the track, Warmblood sires were introduced.

A new era

With the recent purchase of 4 young horses at the Isle Of Wight Farm auction at Tatura, including two beautiful fillies - Isle Of Arlington and Isle Of Armadale - Anne and Ross have heralded a new phase in the Sunbury Lodge breeding programs.

Anne and Ross hope to continue their previous successes and achievements with a new generation of competition horses. To read about the success of the previous program,
